Imagine a place where people from all over Chicagoland are coming to Jesus in droves. Just imagine a place where, no matter who you are, you actually love coming to church and are excited to invite your friends. You’re excited because it makes sense, nobody is using religious words that you don’t understand, the music is rocking, the teaching is rock-solid Biblically and totally relevant. You leave with something to think about and apply all week long. And the people around you don’t have it all together; they’re real people with real problems… they’re just like me and most likely just like you. We at North Maine Community Church dream of being that place.
We believe that God is calling a group of radical followers to be His hands and feet to show people the radical love of Jesus! We are asking God to grow a committed team of people who are willing to do their part to see God’s vision become reality: leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Imagine how God’s heart would be thrilled to see a group of people extend His love to everyone here in Chicago and to the rest of the world!
Now, imagine a community where more than 1 million people live within a 20-minute drive. Imagine a place where more than 50 languages are spoken in homes. Imagine kids, young adults, families, parents, grandparents. From all corners of the globe, from all income levels and backgrounds. All of whom have needs: some physical, some educational, some relational, and above all, spiritual—they desperately need to know Jesus and experience his life-transforming power. Imagine a place that many have described as underserved. God has called us to that place, right here in the northern part of Maine Township.
We dream of partnering with God to transform this community. We long to see dads step up and lead, moms are loved and supported, addictions are broken, marriages are restored, and kids follow God wholeheartedly. Where everyone is on a faith journey together and we all challenge and encourage each other. We will continue to partner with programs and services that already exist at local schools and other organizations. Whether it’s helping a child with homework, coaching a basketball team, mentoring a teenager, teaching sign language classes or anything else, we want to show God’s love in a practical way. We want to be a church that shows the world what Jesus is really like: simply irresistible!
There is no doubt in our minds that God called us to do God-sized work in the Chicago area. To sum it all up: our dream is to see God get all kinds of crazy glory as we have the time of our lives, chasing after His heart and watching Him change our lives and the lives of our friends, families and community. What better cause to give your life to than changing the world…one life at a time!
